We have a position open on our Human Resources team for an HR Generalist with benefits, LOA, 401k, onboarding/offboarding, and employee engagement experience.

The HR Generalist is responsible for administering employee benefits programs, managing leave of absence processes, and providing day-to-day human resources support in onboarding, offboarding, and employee engagement.  This role serves as a key resource for employees regarding health and welfare benefits, 401(k) plans, leave policies, and HR-related inquiries while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.

Job Description:

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and voluntary benefits.
  • Conduct benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment activities and employee communications.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions and issue resolution.
  • Maintain benefit records and ensure data accuracy within HRIS systems.
  • Partner with benefit vendors and brokers to address employee concerns and eligibility matters.
  • Audit benefit invoices and reconcile carrier billing.

401(k) Administration

  • Administer company 401(k) retirement plan and coordinate with plan providers.
  • Process employee enrollments, contribution changes, loans, hardship withdrawals, and distributions.
  • Assist employees with retirement plan education and resources.
  • Support annual compliance testing and plan audits.
  • Monitor eligibility and ensure timely enrollment communications.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Leave of Absence Management

  • Administer leave programs including FMLA, ADA accommodations, personal leave, parental leave, military leave, and state-specific leave programs.
  • Coordinate leave requests and communicate eligibility, rights, and responsibilities to employees.
  • Track leave usage, return-to-work dates, and required documentation.
  • Work closely with managers and third-party leave administrators to ensure smooth leave administration.
  • Facilitate interactive accommodation discussions and document outcomes.
  • Maintain confidential leave files and ensure compliance with applicable laws.

 

HR Generalist Responsibilities

  • Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Support employee relations matters and conduct investigations as needed.
  • Maintain personnel records and HR documentation.
  • Assist with HR compliance initiatives and policy updates.
  • Generate HR reports and analyze employee data.
  • Support recruitment and talent acquisition efforts when needed.

Qualification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of Human Resources experience with significant benefits and leave administration responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other employment regulations.
  • Experience administering 401(k) or retirement plans.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, CEBS, or related HR certification preferred.
  • Experience working with third-party leave administrators and benefit brokers.
  • Multi-state HR experience preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS systems such as Rippling, UKG, Paylocity, Paycom, or Dayforce, etc.
